Did you miss Monday night's Council meeting? See below for a summary of the main items discussed at the meeting.
- At the Committee of the Whole, Council heard two presentations – one from our contracted planners at Urban Systems, who presented the final Connect Rupert – Transportation Plan, and another from the City’s Manager of Communications, Engagement and Social Development, who presented an update on the City’s new website to be launched in August.
- At the regular meeting, Council voted to adopt the consent agenda – which included a report from the Director of Operations and Intergovernmental Relations, noting the City’s application for $82 Million in Federal funding to the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund (DMAF). This application is tied to the City’s broader work towards critical renewal of our sewer and water infrastructure – specifically the highest risk 26 km identified in our Infrastructure Replacement Strategy. - Council voted to send three Development Variance Permits to public notification.
- Council voted to adopt the Transportation Plan and directed staff to advance actions identified in the plan, as resources and budget allow. For the main plan, click here, and find Appendix A and Appendix B via the links.
- Council passed two remedial action orders for the properties known as Rose’s Oriental Food and Gifts (741 3rd Avenue West), and for the Angus Apartments (1127 and 1133 2nd Avenue West). In accordance with all relevant sections of the Community Charter, notice will be provided to both property owners that the City will proceed with demolition at the respective locations within 14 days of notification, if the property owners do not initiate their own removal processes or dispute the remedial action. If a dispute is received within the 14 day period, then remedial work will be on hold until the owners have been provided an opportunity to speak before Council.
