It’s coming! The City’s annual Capital Paving program is getting under way this weekend, and continuing into the following weeks. Please plan for traffic delays and local parking restrictions on impacted streets, to be followed by the delight of cruising on smooth streets. Grading and road prep of main areas will begin next week, and completion of all areas is anticipated to occur over the weeks following. Although our crystal ball can see paving in the future, it can’t see the weather. Dates may be subject to change depending on conditions, and individual notices will be supplied by the contractor to homeowners in impacted areas to give advanced notice for parking impacts.
Milling and/or preparatory works of Bacon Street is currently planned to start this weekend (weather dependant) and all other streets should start to see preparatory and milling works the following week. Although Crestview Drive was originally intended to be the first on the list for paving completion, additional work needed on the sewer in that area is delaying paving to the end of the paving schedule window.
Targeted Areas for Capital Paving:
- Bacon Street (BIG Project area)
- Borden Street
- Piggot Avenue
- Overlook Street
- Herman Street and Rushbrook Ave
- Taylor Street
- 9th Avenue West
- Lotibiniere Street
- 8th Avenue East
- Omineca Avenue
- Crestview Drive (BIG Project area)
We appreciate the patience of residents during this process, and look forward to less gravel and more pavement in the near future!
