Local Elections

City Hall within a teal frame and the words "Rupert Votes" 2026 Municipal Election Information next to it

The next general local elections will be held on October 17, 2026.

In BC, each municipality is responsible for running our own elections, including voting, counting, reporting results and accepting candidate nominations. In Prince Rupert, we elect one Mayor and six City Councillors. Elections are also combined with the selection of the local School Board representatives, and occur every 4 years.

Throughout 2026, the City will be sharing information regarding the upcoming election via our website, newspaper and social media channels, as per the requirements set out for us in our Elections Bylaw and by the Province.
