Statement on Carnival Incident

PRINCE RUPERT, B.C., AUGUST 27th, 2025 – The City of Prince Rupert is deeply saddened by the fatal incident that occurred at the carnival last night. Our hearts go out to their family, friends, and coworkers during this incredibly difficult time.

We know that this loss is felt beyond those closest to the individual, and that many in our community may be struggling in the aftermath. Victim Services counsellors and support staff will be available today from 1 pm – 4 pm in the Civic Centre auditorium to provide support to anyone directly affected, including carnival employees. In addition, if you are unable to make it during that time, there is also help available by calling 250 627 7779 or emailing joyce.charlton@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.  

Investigations are underway, and the area has been cordoned off. Please respect all barricades in place while this work is ongoing.
