Rushbrook Improvement Area Parking Lot Impacts

Type(s)
News Release

The City of Prince Rupert and our on-site contractors, Progressive Ventures, are advising users in the Rushbrook Area that ongoing work on the outfall replacement project in this area is now proceeding into the primary parking lot area. This DOES NOT include the area reserved for parking pass holders, between the boat launch and Canfisco. Angled parking along George Hills Way will also be reopened as the work moves east towards the parking lot.

We ask that all regular users of this parking lot plan for alternative parking arrangements and ensure that your vehicle is removed prior to midnight on Tuesday, September 30th, so that work can proceed without delay.

Pedestrian access through the area will  continue to remain open throughout the project to ensure that residents can continue to enjoy the Rushbrook Trail, the Gymnastics facility and Rushbrook floats.

The work is part of a broader plan to prepare local infrastructure for future wastewater treatment. Specifically, the work will eliminate Outfall J, a stormwater outfall located beneath Rushbrook Floats. The plan includes consolidating wastewater flows from Outfall J into the existing Outfall I system, improving environmental management in the area.

We appreciate your patience while this important work is conducted.

See below for a map of the project area. Red area indicates the  area impacted by the closure. Teal lines show where pedestrian  access will be maintained. Please follow all  site signage  and respect construction barricades to ensure safety.
