Please note that as of earlier this evening the Province of British Columbia has called a BC-wide State of Emergency in order to manage escalating wildfires. If residents are planning to or are already travelling throughout BC, we strongly advise you to keep informed about local conditions and/or potential evacuation orders and detours in the areas you will be travelling through. Wildfire location and response information is available here: BCwildfire.ca
Our thoughts are with the many communities currently under evacuation orders throughout our Province.
Below is the original release from the Province.
On August 18, 2023, the Province of British Columbia declared a Provincial State of Emergency, under the authority of the Emergency Program Act, to support ongoing response and recovery efforts caused by wildfire.
A Provincial State of Emergency allows the Province to enact Emergency Orders, including travel restrictions to specific areas if needed.
