Post Stories, Photos and Notes for Rally Points to Help us Win $250,000 and an NHL Game
PRINCE RUPERT, JANUARY 29th, 2025 – The Prince Rupert Recreation Department is calling on our community and all Prince Rupert supporters to chime in on our bid to win the Kraft Hockeyville nomination this year. There is $250,000 up for grabs, which the Department would use to address our arena pad, which is heaving and causes issues for ice users. In addition, our arena would host an NHL game at the rink. Community members can help out by sharing our nomination and adding your positive notes, stories and photos to our page on the Kraft Hockeyville site.
“The arena is a real gathering place for our community. We play here, make memories, learn new skills, and generations of families have grown up using this ice. We know that Rupert is great at getting behind a local cause, and we’re calling on you to help us get some love and an NHL game at our facility,” said Nicole Beauregard, Director of Recreation and Community Services.
Prince Rupert has until March 2nd for residents to share stories, photos and notes as a ‘rally’ of support behind our bid for the funds. Rally points count for 20% of our total judging, so this is a direct way that residents can support our application. The top 4 communities are announced March 15th, and a nation-wide voting competition will happen April 4th. Prizes of $25,000 are also provided to the 2nd and 3rd place communities.
Thank you in advance for your participation and support for this initiative.
