Notice is hereby given that the City of Prince Rupert has waived the holding of a Public Hearing pursuant to Section 464(2) and 467 of the Local Government Act for Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 3506, 2023. This rezoning proposes to allow Child Care as a permitted use in all Public Facilities and most multi-family residential zones (RM 1—RM 5).

The Local Government Act permits a local government to waive the holding of a public hearing for a zoning bylaw amendment where an official community plan is in effect for the area that is subject to the zoning bylaw and the bylaw is consistent with the official community plan.

Council has elected to waive the public hearing requirement for this rezoning, given it is aligned with the objectives of the Official Community Plan. The First Reading of the Bylaw will be at the June 12th meeting in Council Chambers at 7 pm at 424 3rd Avenue West, Prince Rupert, BC.
