UPDATE: Unfortunately the bridge will need to remain closed for the weekend to allow for work to reorient traffic and continue to determine necessary repairs. Again, we appreciate your patience and are working to reopen for both pedestrian and regular traffic as soon as possible.
Starting today at 3pm, the 6th Avenue Bridge will be closed to all traffic until later this evening.
Following a recent review of the pedestrian walkway on the bridge, it was determined that repairs are needed. This walkway is a structurally separate component from the road portion of the bridge. The pedestrian walkway will be closed until repairs are completed, and the City is currently in the process of confirming the traffic and pedestrian accesses to be in place effective tomorrow. This update will be amended as soon as that information is available.
Please use George Hills Way as an alternate route in the meantime, and follow posted signage and controllers. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
