PRINCE RUPERT, OCTOBER 15th, 2025 – Mayor Herb Pond, the Honourable Brenda Bailey, Minister of Finance, the Honourable Tamara Davidson, Minister of Environment and Parks and North Coast MLA, and Port representatives met this morning on a tour of ongoing Prince Rupert developments and the community. The City was grateful for the opportunity to participate in this community tour and to advocate for key community needs to one of BC’s top Cabinet Ministers.
“At the Union of BC Municipalities Conference we were able to tell Minister Bailey about what’s happening in Prince Rupert. This was a chance for her to see it with her own eyes,” said Mayor Herb Pond. “Not only could we show the critical needs of our community, like water treatment, but also the enormous potential that Prince Rupert has and the dividends that investment here will pay to Provincial coffers.”
This meeting came in advance of the finalization of the 2026 Provincial budget, where the Province considers critical investments in health care, education, housing, highway investments, and grants to municipalities for infrastructure.
