Bring a Paintbrush and your Creativity

PRINCE RUPERT, MARCH 19th, 2025 – The City of Prince Rupert’s Recreation and Community Services Department is hosting a fun and colorful farewell to the ice season with a Paint the Ice event at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre Arena on Sunday, March 30th, from 2 PM to 4 PM.

Did you know? We have extended our ice season this year due to winning two incredible BC Hockey provincial championships bids. Catch some last-minute hockey during the Coy Cup from March 15th to 29th.

Before the ice melts away for the season, the community is invited to grab a brush and transform the rink into a giant canvas! Participants of all ages can step onto the ice (in shoes—no skates) and express their creativity by painting vibrant designs, messages, and artwork directly on the surface.

Event Details:

  • Date: Sunday, March 30th (last day of ice)
  • Time: 2 PM – 4 PM
  • Location: Jim Ciccone Civic Centre Arena
  • What to Bring: A paintbrush (paint will be provided)
  • Safety: Helmets are required for all participants

This unique event is a great way for families, artists, and community members to celebrate the end of the ice season together. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just want to have fun with a splash of color, everyone is welcome to take part.
