PRINCE RUPERT, AUGUST 1st, 2024 – The precautionary Boil Water Notice issued on July 19th, 2024 that was put into place at the request of Northern Health has now been lifted.
As noted in the previous notice, alongside other work on our water distribution system, the City has been working to replace failing critical communications equipment responsible for monitoring water quality and treatment levels in the City’s potable water supply. This past notice was in relation to this equipment replacement, and given concern regarding monitoring effectiveness, the City was requested by the health authority to put a Boil Water Notice as a precautionary measure.
The City has put into place additional monitoring measures until the commissioning of new equipment is completed in the Fall and this plan has been approved by Northern Health. Be aware that upgrades to the monitoring and controls system are ongoing, and may necessitate a future notice but all possible measures are being taken to prevent this from happening.
The City has sent this notice to local media and directly to residents via our municipal app and Connect Rocket emergency alert program. If you or someone you know have not subscribed to these services, please do so at https://princerupert.connectrocket.com/.
