Thompson Community Services

TCS offers Community Inclusion services to help individuals with developmental disabilities lead meaningful lives and contribute to the community. The following programs are offered through Thompson Community Services in Northern BC: cross this wide topography, we are able to offer most of our programs: Child and Youth, Community Inclusion, Employment Services, Home Sharing, Independent Living, and Residential Programs. 

• Community Inclusion
  TCS offers Community Inclusion services to support individuals with developmental disabilities lead meaningful lives and contribute to the community. These services include support for community involvement, employment and skill development.
• Employment Programs
  The team at TCS is dedicated to the meaningful employment for all individuals. We work with the business community to develop employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  As with all our programs, special care is taken to make sure each individual's needs and interests are matched with the right employment setting. We help individuals determine interests, prepare for the work environment, access job search / placement services and maintain employment.
• Home Sharing
  A Home Sharing residence provides a home and caregiver support for individuals with a developmental disability. At TCS, we match residents with home sharing caregivers and continue to monitor and support the home share environment. Home sharing will involve sharing of the home and may include assistance in self-care, relationship-building, life skills, meal preparation and personal care, as well as the use of community resources, activities and services.
• Staffed Homes in PR
  Our Residential Programs are designed for individuals with disabilities that affect their ability to perform basic activities in their home. Placement in residential settings may be a desired component of an individual’s plan as part of their journey with TCS. We develop these plans for each of our clients based upon their unique needs. Supported Independent Living: several residents live together with one or more caregivers.
• Independent Living Program – Cluster Program
  TCS offers independent living options for individuals whose needs are not met through a group home or home sharing situation. Independent living situations are designed and implemented based on the individual’s goals and preferences. Options involve support for living alone in an apartment or suite. Sometimes a suite will be shared to save on the cost of living; at most two individuals.
• Youth and Children's Programs
  TCS offers counseling and services for children and youth who have developmental disabilities. We create custom individualized plans adapted to each family's goals and preferences.
