The Prince Rupert library provides along with the traditional book services, access to magazines, newspapers, DVDs, Audiobooks and eBooks, as well providing Internet services through free public WiFi and general use computers. The Library serves Prince Rupert and the surrounding area, including Port Edward, Dodge Cove, Metlakatla, Lax Kw'alaams, Oona River, Kitkatla, and Hartley Bay. If you live in any of these areas, you are entitled to a free library card and free use of all Library services.

For users with Accessibility needs, the Library also offers the following services:

  • eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines - download to your device
  • Audiobooks on CD
  • Take-home Dementiability Kits
  • Elevator to second floor
  • In-house wheelchair
  • Mobility-device accessible washrooms
  • NNELS - Downloadable ebooks and audiobooks for people with print disabilities. Provided by the National Network for Equitable Library Service

    Children's programs

    The Library offers a variety of children's reading programs for newborns to 5-year-olds throughout the year. Programs for those in Kindergarten through Grade 6 are offered in summer and intermittently throughout the school year.

    Our open hours are:
    Mon., Fri 10am to 5pm, Tues., Wed, Thu. 10am to 9pm, Sat. 1-5pm and Sundays 1-5pm (EXCEPT June-Labour Day/September)
