    We work with children, families and other health professionals to help prevent tooth decay (cavities) by providing:
    •Free oral assessments of children's teeth (does not replace regular dental office visits)
    •Education on how to care for teeth
    •Free fluoride varnish for children at risk for tooth decay
    •Help to families searching for a dental office
    •Dental resources to schools and daycares
    •Participation in community health fairs and wellness projects

  • Northern Health Assessment Network (NHAN)
    The Northern Health Assessment Network (NHAN) is a provincial program that serves all of Northern BC through centralized locations in Prince George, Terrace, and Dawson Creek.
    The program provides diagnostic assessments for children and youth (ages 0-18) who are suspected of having an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other neurodevelopmental conditions.
    Assessments are provided through the BC Autism Assessment Network (BCAAN) or the Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions (CDBC) program which includes Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) assessments.
    Please note: NHAN is a public health service and neither provides nor has information on private autism assessments.

    If you have a concern about your child's hearing, please ask your family physician, public health nurse, or other health professional to refer your child to your local public health audiology (hearing) clinic.
  • Prince Rupert Options for Sexual Health Clinic
    Our clinics provide sexual and reproductive health services for all ages, all genders, and all orientations. Our clinicians are committed to providing you with confidential, nonjudgmental, youth-friendly, pro-choice, and sex-positive services. Our services include free birth control for people in BC with MSP (low-cost for those without MSP), STI care, Pap screening, pregnancy testing and pregnancy options counselling. The specific services provided in each of our clinics are clinician dependent and may vary from clinic to clinic.

    The Northern Health Speech and Language Program provides services for children from birth to kindergarten entry. These services are offered at NO COST to families.

    The speech-language pathologists aim to be family focused and encourage parents or other caregivers to be actively involved in their child’s communication development, goal planning, and therapy activities.

    Services consist of:
    •Screenings
    •Assessments
    •Referrals to other services
    •Group therapy
    •Individual therapy
    •Workshops/training for parents and community service providers
    Parents and individuals are encouraged to make their own referrals. 
    This can be done by a phone call, a referral form or in person. A referral can also be made by any community service provider with parents’ awareness and consent

    RCD Program helps Northerners living with chronic diseases and conditions by promoting well-being, providing leadership in chronic disease care, and supporting the operation of specialized services such as cancer care and screening, cardiac care and screening, HIV and Hepatitis C care, kidney care, and chronic pain care.
