Council Meetings



Please note - Scheduled Regular Council Meetings can currently be accessed in-person by the public. To request a delegation to the Committee of the Whole at a Council meeting, please contact Corporate Administrator Rosamaria Miller at or call (250) 627 0934.The Council meeting is available on Citywest Cable Channel 10/310, and live streaming at Videos of the City’s Council meetings are also posted to YouTube in the days following the meeting.


Regular Meetings:

Regular Council Meetings are generally held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, unless they fall on a holiday, in which case the meeting will be held on the next business day. Regular Council meetings start 7:00 p.m., take place in Council Chambers on the second floor at City Hall, 424 3rd Avenue West, and are open to the public. On the 4th Monday of each month there will be a Committee of the Whole Meeting alongside the Regular Meeting of Council. The schedule of Regular meetings is posted, here.

Special Meetings:

Special Council Meetings are called on an as-needed basis to allow for Council to provide direction on matters that require a timely response. Twenty-four hour advanced notification of these meetings is required, with notification processes determined by the City’s Council Procedure Bylaw.

Closed Meetings:

On an as needed basis, City Council may also hold Closed Meetings to discuss items as permitted by Section 90 of the Community Charter. These meetings are generally scheduled for 5:00 p.m., in advance of the scheduled Regular Council Meeting. Committee of the Whole

Public attendance and participation are encouraged at Committee of the Whole meetings. It is also an appropriate forum for public delegations to make presentations, because the committee structure allows for less formal discussion and questions from Council. (read more...)
