Construction Issue Corrected, Awaiting Confirmation of Test Results

DECEMBER 5th, 2025 - PRINCE RUPERT – This update is to provide additional details to the community regarding the ongoing Boil Water Notice and steps that the City, in coordination with Northern Health, are taking to remedy the current situation.

The initial notice in November was put into effect due to construction impacts from the BIG Project. The City has now corrected the issue and completed flushing of the lines. We are currently completing necessary testing to enable the Boil Water Notice to be removed, with tests to date coming back clear. Based on the current timeline for corrective actions, we anticipate being able to remove the Notice in the coming 2 weeks pending no further issues.

As previously advised, in the meantime, owners of public facilities are requested to post Boil Water Notices at all sinks or drinking water fountains accessible to the public, alternatively, public fountains and taps should be turned off). As opportunities arise they must also advise their clientele verbally of the Boil Water Notice.

We also ask that residents please share this information with your neighbours.

When the City is able to remove the notice, an update will be provided via our available channels as well as via our municipal app and Connect Rocket emergency alert program. If you or someone you know have not subscribed to these services, please do so at www.princerupert.ca/emergency.
