Did you miss last night's Council meeting? Check out the summary below of the main agenda items from the meeting:

Council Summary - March 20th, 2023

  • Council heard a presentation at the Committee of the Whole from the Prince Rupert and District Hospice Society on their programs and support services, including visits and support services, grief support, and Advanced Care Planning. At the previous meeting, the City proclaimed April 16th National Advanced Care Planning Day, which helps bring awareness to the opportunity to let your family know what kind of health and personal care you would want if you could no longer speak for yourself.  For more information on this program as well as other resources, check out their website at: https://www.princeruperthospice.org/
  • Council approved staff to move forward with the establishment of an Accessibility Committee of seven members, over half of whom should be residents who self-identify as having a disability or be from the local community of support workers. Stay tuned for more information on how to apply to serve on this committee.
  • Council approved a Development Variance Permit at 227 4th Avenue East to move to public notification.
  • Council gave final approval to the City's Adjudication Bylaw No. 3497. More information on that change, which moves ticketing out of a court process for disputes and into an adjudication process, is available here: https://princerupert.ca/bylawdispute
