Downtown Development Permit Area

The recently adopted Prince Rupert Official Quality of Life Community Plan includes a vision for a complete community focused around a vibrant and compact  core. The core is comprised of the downtown and Cow Bay areas, providing a "heart" for the city with shops, jobs, community-based services, public spaces, and a place suitable for a strong residential component.
The project commenced in late September, 2008 and was completed spring 2009. Mayor and Council adopted the Downtown Development Permit Area Design Guidlines as part of the Zoning Bylaw of 2009.
